Rebecca Riggins

Dr. Rebecca Riggins a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Oncology at the Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) and Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC). Her laboratory studies the role of orphan and ligand-regulated nuclear receptors – notably the estrogen and estrogen-related receptors – in multiple malignancies, with the goal of translating their knowledge of the cellular and molecular functions of these proteins into actionable therapeutic approaches. Dr. Riggins serves the Translational Breast Cancer Research Consortium on working groups that are responsible for prioritizing cutting-edge clinical/translational studies, further enhancing the impact of her investigator-initiated research. In October 2020 Dr. Riggins was appointed as LCCC’s Associate Director (AD) of Education and Training, leading Cancer Research Training & Education Coordination (CRTEC) activities to develop, implement, and sustain comprehensive career development programming for cancer researchers of all career stages.
